Two experienced neurosurgical experts, Dr Fu and Su from the Tiantan Hospital – the best neurosurgery hospital in China, were invited to join the Jishuitan group to establish the team. With great hopes and passions, they built up the initial form of Jishuitan Neurosurgery in fulfill their dreams.
With the endeavor of the team member and the supports from Jishuitan Hospital leaders, the Neurosurgery has grow up into an team with sounded academic influence domestically.
The neurosurgery is one of the most profound fields. To keep up to date with the international standard, the Jishuitan Neurosurgery focused on introducing professions and improving the quality of the team. In this team, two of the neurosurgeons with doctor’s degree had been studying abroad. while every year there are the excellent doctors going abroad for short- term study. We also have the best medical instruments across the country to help us with microsurgical operations. Our team are ambidextrous with the following instruments: the Leica neurosurgery operation microscopes, Asculap neurosurgical motor systems, inraoperative ultrasound equipments, neurological electrical monitoring system, brain electricity monitoring, ventricular endoscope, and CUSA, ICP monitoring systems et al.
Jishuitan Hospital is one of the most excellent trauma hospital with good reputation in China. There are millions of patients traveling across the country to Beijing in seek of help from Jishuitan doctors. The Neurosurgery started hypothermia therapy in patients with server brain injury, compound injury and spinal cord injury. We are especially experienced in management of server traumatic brain injury in the early and pre-early stage. The microsurgical treatment of cerebral hemorrhage with minimally invasive techniques with a success rate of more than 90 percent have greatly decreased the motality and morbidity of these patients.
The treatment of the skull related diseases is also one of the characteristic fields of the Jishuitan Neurosurgey. We excelled in the treatment primary skull tumors as well as the secondary one and the traumatic skull disorders. The computer assisted modeling of Titanium mesh in the treatment of complex cranial defects is approaching the international standards. The Jishuitan Hospital has one of the few bone depositories in China which are capable of storing bones under -70C°. This predomination facilitates the rebuilding of the bone defects with autologous bone materials. In 2004, we carried out the first case of pediatric cranioplasty surgery with craniofacial absorbable material with good outcome.
While concentrating in the treatment of brain trauma and skull related disorders, we have successfully fulfilled neurosurgical operations including but not limited to spinal tumors, Chiari malformations, syringomyelia, TCS, cerebral vascular disorders, brain tumors and functional neurosurgeries. With the advanced micro-neurosurgical techniques, we complete nearly three hundred cases of spinal tumors and cranio-cervical disorders. The treatment of intramedullary tumors and upper cervical intraspinal tumors are especially encouraging. We also carried out surgical treatment of refractory pains, stump pains and phantom pains following brachial injuries as well, which are in the frontier of neurosurgery fields in China.
Guided by the Jishuitan motto of “Be deliberate in spirit, in work, in heart” and the academic atmosphere in the hospital, the Jishuitan Neurosurgery never stops improving themselves in academy and philosophy. Till now, the Neurosurgery has published two papers on international journals and tens of original papers in domestic journals. The head of the Neurosurgery, Dr Su is one of the few brilliant neurosurgeons in China. He holds positions in the CMA and Beijing medical association. To the date, Dr Su has been hosting two national financed programs and one Beijing Excellent Profession program. As the clinical practicing foundation of Peking University, the Jishuitan Neurosurgery is responsible for the training of doctors of the University with clinical internship work.
