Gastrointestinal Function Test and Treatment Room, equipped with specialized technician, can launch many gastrointestinal motility detection skills such as high resolution esophageal/anorectal manometry, 24 hours esophageal pH + impedance monitoring, hydrogen breath test, methane breath test, 13C urea breath test and so on. According to different examination results, we give the patients individualized treatment such as medicine, biofeedback and electric stimulation.

Functional Gastrointestinal Diseases: The Department of Gastroenterology owns international advanced gastrointestinal motility detection skills such as high resolution esophageal /anorectal manometry, 24 hours esophageal pH+impedance monitoring. Meantime, we can learn the motility of gastrointestinal tract by measuring gastric emptying time and gastrointestinal transit time. Hydrogen breath test can detect the dysmotility and bacterial overgrowth of small intestine, which provides new method for improving the level of diagnosis of GI dysmotility diseases. On the basis of researches more than twenty years, the Department of Gastroenterology has specialized features in diagnosis and treatment of dysfunction of gastrointestinal tract of GERD (especially refractory GERD), functional dyspepsia, DM gastroparesis, IBS, systemic diseases (such as Scleroderma, Sjogren's syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic diseases). Department of Gastroenterology has two specialized outpatient clinic: constipation clinic and GERD clinic. Individualized treatments such as medicine, biofeedback, electric stimulation are available to address the symptoms. Based on the long-term attention for the effects of psychological factors on GI function, many patients with refractory functional gastrointestinal diseases have been cured. The department of Gastroenterology have won many praise from patients.
H. pylori associated digestive deseases: Department of Gastroenterology has all the dectection methods of H.pylori, including non-invasive carbon 13 urea breath test, which benefit for diagnosis of Hp associtated digestive diseases such as peptic ulcers, gastritis, mucosa-associated lymphoid tumors.
Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment: The Endoscopy Center possesses all kinds of advanced electronic endoscopes including gastroscopes, colonoscopes, double-balloon enteroscopes, ultrasonic endoscopes and capsule endoscopes. Plainless endoscopy and many advanced interventional therapies under endoscopy are performed successfully, for example bleeding stopping under endoscopy, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection, endoscopic submucosal dissection, emergency sclerotherapy of esophageal varices, endoscopic esophageal stent placement, endoscopic biliary drainage, ERCP, endoscopic biliary stent placement and endoscopic sphincterotomy for lithotony, endoscopic treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer.
Diagnosis and treatment of hepatic and pancreatic diseases: The Department of Gastroenterology has also launched the interventional therapy and chemotherapy via catheter for liver cancer. Ultrasound-guided hepatic puncture and aspiration, hepatic arteriography and hepatic artery embolism provide highly accurate diagnosis and treatment for early liver cancer. The treatment of liver cirrhosis and its complications is of high effectiveness. Many researches insight on alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases and autoimmune hepatic diseases. ERCP successfully cures calculi and tumor induced pancreatitis and obstructive jaundice.
Tumors of Digestive tract: By inspections of endoscopy (magnifying endoscopy, NBI, staining endoscopy), ultrasonic endoscopy, ultrasound or ultrasonic endoscopy guided acupuncture, 64 row spiral CT , MRI, the detection rate of early stage of digestive cancer has increased significantly. We also accumulated much experience in chemotherapy and interventional therapy of malignant tumors. Early gastrointestinal cancers can be successfully resected by endoscopy.
