Cardiovascular diseases are the main factor of death all over the world, and they represent a challenge for diagnosis, treatment and research.The Department of Cardiology at Beijing Jishuitan Hospitalis always prepared to provide patients with the most accurate diagnosis and professional manner of treatment. Our department consists of four individual divisions, including general cardiology ward, cardiology intensive care unit (CCU), non-invasive image processing and diagnosis units and cardiac catheterization center. The goals of our department's members are to provide cutting-edge, individualized care to patients; thorough, broad-based education to our residents; and to carry out high-level basic and clinical research.
In today’s era, the challenges of managing complex heart failure, arrhythmia and recurring coronary artery disease require advanced knowledge and expertise that are difficult to maintain.This is why we have gathered together a group of outstanding cardiologists in all aspects of cardiac care to offer you expert consultation and patient evaluation, as well as the most advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques. Our department page will introduce the Cardiology Department and the various branches that operate within the department – the general cardiology ward, CCU, non-invasive image processing and diagnosis units ( including electrocardiogram, echocardiography, stress tests, Holter, and cardiovascular CTs), and cardiac catheterization center.
2. Branches in our department
●General cardiology ward
The general ward contains 55 beds and is divided into two parts which located in Xinjiekou and Huilongguan Hospital District. The patients admitted to this ward are mainly with stable coronary heart disease, hypertension, chronic heart failure, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia and other non-urgent conditions. Patients have repeatedly given the Cardiology staff their high score for patient satisfaction.
●Cardiology intensive care unit (CCU)
The CCU receives patients with acute myocardial infarction, acute left ventricular failure, severe arrhythmia, cardiac shock and other related critical conditions. It has four partially monitored beds in Xinjiekou Hospital District and twelve fully monitored beds in Huilongguan Hospital District. Bedside monitors allow continuous ECG, arterial and pulmonary pressure, and oxygen saturation monitoring. A fluoroscopy room is located nearby for patients in need of temporary or permanent pacemaker implantations, pulmonary pressure catheter insertions, intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation and defibrillator implantations.
● Non-invasive image processing and diagnosis units
The units are consisted of Electrocardiogram Lab, Echocardiography Lab, stress ECG testing Lab, Holter Lab, cardiovascular CTs Lab, and Nuclear Cardiology Lab. They are furnished with advanced equipment, which enables a fast diagnosis of cardiovascular disease for ambulatory and hospitalized patients.
Electrocardiogram Lab: Provides general 12-leads electrocardiograms and 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitoring for private outpatients, also exercise stress ECG.
Echocardiography Lab: Provides cardiac ultrasound imaging services including transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography, Pediatric echocardiography
Cardiovascular CT angiography Lab: Provides CT coronary angiography
Nuclear Cardiology Lab: Performing radionuclide blood pool scanning and thallium perfusion scanning of the myocardium by the Division of Nuclear Medicine.
●Cardiac catheterization center
Both Xinjiekou and Huilongguan Hospital District are equipped with a cardiac catheterization center respectively. They provide diagnostic right and left heart catheterization, selective coronary angiography, and digital aortic and vascular angiography. Both two Hospital District provide diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation for patients with arrhythmia. The Division in Huilongguan Hospital District also provides ablation for atrial fibrillation.

Using invasive electrophysiological techniques, such as ablation, and electroanatomical mapping systems for diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
Pharmacologic therapy with standard and investigational agents
Implantation and follow-up of pacemakers and/or defibrillators
Comprehensive noninvasive arrhythmia and syncope evaluation
● Coronary heart disease
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS):
24-hour green channel for ACS: Patients with ACS can timely accepted interventional or thrombolytic therapy to maximize the success rate of acute myocardial infarction and reduce mortality. 24-hour hotline: 58398221.
Delayed percutaneous coronary interventional therapy for coronary heart disease: For part patients with ACS and other types of coronary heart disease such as angina, delayed percutaneous coronary interventional therapy could alleviate symptoms, improve long-term prognosis, and reduce the incidence of acute coronary events.
Pharmacologic therapy with standard and investigational agents
● Cardiac emergency rescue system
A group of well-trained specialists with complete rescue equipment ensure the perfect response to acute cardiac events in the whole hospital.
● Chronic Heart failure
Our cardiac specialists have extensive experience in treatment of various causes of chronic heart failure, such as coronary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease and cardiomyopathy and so on. The Division of Cardiology provides diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation for patients with heart failure. Patients with heart failure are evaluated thoroughly by a dedicated team of cardiologists who are experts in providing advanced support. Treatment plans are individualized to address the specific needs and circumstances of the patients. Our members believe that advanced cardiac support demands complex medical decision-making.
● Hypertension
The goal of hypertension treatment is to lower blood pressure to reduce the incidence of serious complications, such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure, kidney disease, blindness or death. Our treatment regimens for patients with hypertension are also individualized, together with an education of healthy lifestyle and regular follow-up.
● Others
We also carry out the diagnosis and treatment of other related diseases, such as dyslipidemia, myocarditis, infective endocarditis, etc.
