i) Emergency Admission

The hospital has the largest trauma Center in China. The hand surgery department, the orthopaedic trauma department and the pediatric orthopaedic department are the three departments responsible for the majority of the emergent cases. Trainees rotating to these three departments have a large exposure to trauma cases. In the past 3 years, around 35% of the emergency admission were patients who have sustained orthopaedic trauma outside Beijing and most patients sustained hand injuries in Beijing were sent to JST for primary or further management. It gave trainees adequate exposure to the management of all kinds of trauma.
