a) Emergent Trauma Center

A good channel to promote mutual understanding and co-operation. The standard of primary trauma care can be improved.

b) Orthopaedic Trauma Care Equipments

Standard equipment sets for simple and complex (pelvis) fractures are available. Training, bio-skill workshops on saw bone were conducted regularly.

c) Senior Staff On-site Emergency Call

In more than 60% of the emergency calls, the senior surgeons (including the consultant) will stay in the hospital for emergency call. Evening trauma round will be conducted regularly.

d) Emergency Operation Session

With the support of the Department of Anaesthesia, majority of our trauma operations can be performed within 6 hours.

e) Intraoperative Radiology Support

There are 14 C-arm image intensifiers and 7 G-arm in the operating theatre. This will make the fracture fixation more efficient, more accurate and safe. 24-hour CT scan and interventional angiography services are available. There is also an emergent O.T. with 6 operation rooms on the second floor in emergent center.

f) Intensive Care Unit

Our hospital has a strong ICU team. At present we have 10 beds, which can provide high quality peri-operative care to severely traumatized patients.

g) Allied Health Services

The allied health colleagues (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, prosthetist ) will join our ward regularly . These will promote mutual communication and streamline the work process. Moreover, we have a lot of other contact points at the Hand surgery department, Sports medicine and department of cosmetic and plastic surgery.
